
Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Audiology, Syracuse University
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Audiology, beginning with the 2026–2027 academic year.
We welcome applicants who can develop a strong, independent program of research in any area of audiology or hearing science. Candidates should be prepared to teach in more than one of the following areas: auditory anatomy and physiology, clinical diagnostic audiology, pediatric audiology (auditory development, disorders, assessment, and habilitation/rehabilitation), and adult auditory rehabilitation (hearing aids, cochlear implants, assisted listening devices, cognition, tinnitus).
The position is at the assistant professor level, but individuals with some years of experience at this rank are encouraged to apply.
Position
This is a full-time, 8.5-month tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in a vibrant, research-oriented academic program offering BS, MS, AuD, AuD/PhD, and PhD degrees.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Establish and sustain a nationally recognized program of research
- Pursue external funding to support scholarly activities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in audiology and related areas
- Mentor student research projects and advise students academically
- Contribute to departmental, college, and university service
Compensation is nationally competitive, and the position carries full eligibility for tenure and promotion.
Qualifications
- PhD in Audiology or a related discipline (required)
- CCC-A and/or clinically relevant experience (desirable, not required)
- Evidence of research productivity and the potential to build a nationally recognized program
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in audiology and related areas
Candidates with prior university teaching experience and an emerging record of scholarship consistent with the assistant professor level are especially encouraged to apply.

About the Department
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers CAA-accredited clinical programs in Speech-Language Pathology (MS) and Audiology (AuD). We also offer PhD programs in both fields, a bachelor’s degree (BS) in CSD, a combined BS/MS in Speech-Language Pathology, and a dual AuD/PhD.
The department maintains an on-campus Gebbie Speech, Language, and Hearing clinic that serves a diverse range of clients from the Greater Syracuse community and provides a rich environment for clinical training and research. CSD faculty are highly collaborative, with strong connections across the university — including the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program, Aging Studies Institute, and the Center for Health and Behavior Research & Innovation — as well as across the community through partnerships with SUNY Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital, and the Syracuse Veterans Administration Medical Center.
