The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services at Valdosta State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning August 1, 2026. We’re looking for a dedicated educator and scholar to teach in their area of expertise, contribute to ongoing research and scholarship, and engage in meaningful service at the department, college, and university levels. Our department is home to 10 full-time faculty members who support students in both the B.S.Ed. and M.S.Ed. programs in Speech-Language Pathology. We are committed to guiding students throughout their professional journey and collaborate closely with educational and medical partners across South Georgia and beyond. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Classroom instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses
• Potential for summer teaching
• Establish a program of research and disseminate results through presentations and publications
• Academic advising and mentoring for undergraduate and graduate students
• Engagement in the program, department, university, discipline, and community

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Terminal degree at the time of appointment in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related field 

• Strong record of, or potential for publications in the candidate’s area of interest

• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in pediatric evaluation and treatment of speech disorders
• Eligibility for ASHA certified in Speech-Language Pathology, and/or licensure in Georgia
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
• A record of mentoring students, in clinical and/or research experiences
• Previous college-level teaching experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders  
• Evidence of knowledge and experience with course subject-matter, evidence-based teaching, and clinical practices, as demonstrated in application materials
• Strong communication skills and a student-inspired approach to teaching for educational excellence, equity, advocacy, and serving diverse students and communities, as evidenced and addressed in application materials

The Dewar College of Education and Human Services prepares professionals for multiple roles in educational, business, and community settings.
