DENVER, Colo. —3/4/2026— The Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) is proud to announce that Dr. Jennifer P. Taylor, AuD, CCC-A, of the University of Memphis, is the recipient of the 2026 Honors of the Council Award, CAPCSD’s highest recognition for sustained service and exceptional contribution to the profession.

The award will be presented on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the 2026 CAPCSD Annual Conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

The Honors of the Council Award recognizes individuals whose careers reflect extraordinary leadership, innovation, and lasting impact on CAPCSD, academic programs, and the broader communication sciences and disorders (CSD) community. Dr. Taylor’s career exemplifies these ideals at the highest level.

Over thirteen years of distinguished leadership within CAPCSD, Dr. Taylor has served in multiple pivotal roles, including Council Member at Large, Vice President for Professional Development, Annual Conference Chair, and ultimately President Elect, President, and Past President. Through these roles, she has profoundly influenced the Council’s strategic direction, strengthened its professional development infrastructure, enhanced communication systems, and elevated the national conference experience. Her service reflects exemplary impact on the organization and exceptional administrative leadership.

At the University of Memphis, Dr. Taylor has transformed audiology education and clinical training through innovative supervision systems, forward-thinking externship models, and modernized clinic operations. Her leadership was instrumental in the development of the university’s Cochlear Implant Program, as well as the creation of foundational clinical documents that continue to guide best practices. These contributions demonstrate exceptional clinical innovation and a deep commitment to excellence in audiology education.

Dr. Taylor is widely recognized for her excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service. She has made lasting contributions through faculty coaching, student mentorship, scholarly presentations, and national leadership roles with ASHA, NBASLH, NSSLHA, the Midwest Clinic Directors, and as a Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) Site Visitor, reflecting her broad and sustained impact on the profession.

Through her visionary leadership, dedication to education and clinical excellence, and tireless service to the profession, Dr. Jennifer P. Taylor has made an enduring impact on CAPCSD and the field of communication sciences and disorders. CAPCSD is honored to recognize her remarkable achievements with the 2026 Honors of the Council Award.
