Kenn Apel, PhD, CCC-SLP, is professor and chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He has served as department chair, across three institutions, for over 13 years. As a chair, he has had first-hand experience with individuals interviewing for academic positions. Apel is a former CAPCSD president (2012–2013) and received the Honors of the Council from CAPCSD in 2015. He also is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a recipient of that Association’s Honors Award.
Jana Waller is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department Chair (6/18-1/20); and Fieldwork Coordinator in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Ms. Waller's primary areas of interest include innovative leadership and administration in SLP, collaborative instruction and clinical education, and strengths-based support for young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) . Ms. Waller has published in Perspectives Sig 11 and Sig 16 and in Contemporary Issues in Communication Science and Disorders (CICSD) and regularly presents at national conferences.
